No longer “Personnel” or even “Human Resources” (despite the title of our book), it is “HR” in 2023 and HR contributes to successful organisations in numerous ways.

Remote and hybrid working

Scarcely known in pre-pandemic times, much of this approach to work is now mainstream. It creates new challenges for team-working, for identity with the organisation and for productivity. In allowing employees to work from home employers cannot escape their responsibility for health and safety, communication, and reasonable working hours. Check your policy.

Skill changes

As the pace of change accelerates globally, employees and organisation need to keep up. That increases the importance of training in maintaining a competitive edge for every market in which an organisation operates. Academia is sometimes one step behind. Dynamic training workshops that address real and current issues are often the answer. It is not the fittest that will survive, but the most adaptable.

Technology

Increasingly HR is becoming digital. HR professionals can better inform decision-makers on talent acquisition, training needs, retention, future human resource needs, and can identify well-being issues. Nadeem Khan’s groundbreaking book on People Analytics, outlining how data can inform HR decisions, is now in its second edition.

Employee experience

Participation, involvement, engagement and employee experience is a continuing trend leading the importance of well-being approaches. By paying attention here we create more positive, productive, and exciting work environments.

Diversity

While there are new challenges in recognising LGBTQ+ rights, focus is still on embracing the benefits of a diverse workforce. As net immigration from other cultures is ongoing, employers will need to continue to embrace diversity. Cultural change can come from appropriate training workshops.

Employer Solutions can help you gain access to tailored HR strategies that not only align with your unique business goals but also cultivate an environment of commitment, innovation, and growth. Our expertise in navigating the complexities of employment law ensures legal compliance to enable you to foster a culture of inclusivity and diversity.

Forward looking employers will embrace the role of HR in fostering a progressive, committed, and successful workforce. The points above show how HR contributes to successful organisations.
