Pre claim conciliation has become compulsory for employment tribunal claims lodged after 6 May 2014. This means that both ex – (usually) employees and employers need to engage in an ACAS facilitated conciliation before a tribunal claim can be progressed. This is a good opportunity for both parties. But if there is no response from the employer, the claim will proceed anyway. So ACAS need to know to whom they should speak at your organisation or your opportunity may be lost.

Consequently ACAS have advised that employers contact ACAS directly to inform them of the dedicated contact point in relation to pre-claim conciliation. This should be done by emailing eccontactslist@acas.or.uk. Employers should provide the name of the company, the individual who is ultimately responsible , together with their position in the company and a telephone number.
