Recent legal changes affect anyone who was born on or after 1 September 1997 and therefore who is not yet 18 years old.
In England they are required to stay in some form of education or training until their18th birthday.
This means that in order to work for you: either they must engage in part-time education or training, or they must be undertaking an apprenticeship or traineeship.
